It’s outrageously expensive
Under Proposal 3, the Michigan Constitution would require energy providers to meet the arbitrary 25 percent goal with no regard to the cost to Michigan families and businesses. Energy experts peg the cost to Michigan families and businesses at at least $12 billion.
According to a recent report by Michigan-based Public Sector Consultants, renewable energy is at least 67 percent more expensive than conventional generation.
Michigan’s families and businesses can’t afford to pay more for such a reckless idea. Proposal 3's backers claim there will be a 1 percent cap on annual rate increases, but that’s no guarantee. Courts could strike down that provision, leaving customers to face sharply higher electric bills.
